Privacy Policy

Introduction

Dittivo is a dictation app for macOS developed by MeltinBit (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use Dittivo.

In short: Dittivo has no account, no analytics and no servers of its own. Your voice is transcribed on your Mac.

Data we do not collect

We do not collect, receive or store any personal data. Dittivo contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not operate any server that receives your audio, text or notes.

Audio

Dittivo uses the microphone only while you hold the recording shortcut, or during the optional microphone test in settings. A recording stops automatically after five minutes.

The audio is kept in memory, transcribed on your Mac by an open-source Whisper model running through whisper.cpp, and then discarded. It is never written to disk and never sent over the network.

Dictated text

Dittivo inserts the transcription into the app you are using by placing it briefly on the macOS clipboard and sending the Paste command (⌘V). The previous clipboard contents are restored if no other app has changed them in the meantime.

Dittivo does not keep a history of dictations. The latest transcription stays in memory only so that you can copy it if insertion fails, until your next dictation or until you quit the app.

Notes, vocabularies and preferences

Notes are created only when you use the dedicated note shortcut. Notes, vocabularies and settings are stored locally on your Mac in Dittivo’s private app folder. They are not synchronized or uploaded anywhere. You can delete notes and vocabularies in the app at any time.

Permissions

Dittivo asks macOS for these permissions:

• Microphone: to hear you while you hold the shortcut.
• Input Monitoring: to detect the shortcut you chose while you use other apps. Dittivo does not record or store what you type.
• Accessibility: to send the Paste command to the active app.

Model download

During setup Dittivo downloads the speech recognition model from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). Apart from App Store services, this is the only network connection Dittivo makes. As with any download, Hugging Face receives technical data such as your IP address; no audio, text or other data from the app is sent. See the Hugging Face privacy policy.

In-app purchases

The free trial and the permanent unlock are in-app purchases processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive payment information or your Apple Account details. Dittivo checks your purchase status locally through Apple’s StoreKit framework. Apple’s privacy policy applies to these transactions.

Children

Dittivo does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Under laws such as the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data. Because we do not hold any personal data about you, you exercise these rights directly by managing the data stored on your Mac.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
